PreSchool 1

WELCOME TO THE PRESCHOOL 1 ROOM!

There are a maximum of eight children and two teachers, Miss Jess and Miss Ariel. They have a mixed group of older 2’s and younger 3’s. This is a special room that allows the younger preschool children to polish their social skills and potty training.  Miss Jess joined as an assistant teacher in 2003. She came from a nursing background to pursue her love of children. Miss Ariel is associate teacher who has been working with children since 2019. She joined The Clubhouse in 2024. She loves sensory bins and letting the children explore different textures. She loves stories and singing with the kids.

Here is how we spend our day:

Breakfast is served around 9:00 a.m.  This is a special time for us. We engage in conversations about ourselves or discuss plans for the day. This time allows us to practice our table manners and social skills. Self-help skills are demonstrated through clearing of dishes, putting utensils away and pushing in our chairs.  We are encouraged to engage in conversation at the meal table which enhances language and social skills.  Lunch time and afternoon snack time are also times when we share news about ourselves, our families and friends.

Circle Time begins around 9:30 a.m. We learn about the calendar and weather. We also sing songs, read stories, enjoy some movement and learn a new letter for the week.  Once a week we can bring something special from home for “Show and Tell”.

We also do special planned activities which may include arts and crafts, a baking project, or a simple science experiment. Free play is very important. The children make believe to be parents, bakers, builders, etc. They learn to make choices and practice social skills.

Thematic units are offered each month.  Some examples include fire safety, dental care, farm animals and holidays. The Clubhouse sponsors special guests such as firefighters, dental hygienists, magicians, Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny, as well as in house field trips from the Audubon society, music lessons & storytellers. These are offered at an additional minimal fee.

Our goal is to provide the best quality care for each child in a safe, caring, educational environment that promotes a healthy and exciting atmosphere as they develop skills for future success during their early childhood.
